PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parents are always welcome at preschool at any time to share in activities with their children.  Parents with younger siblings are especially invited and encouraged to attend a preschool session.

If you have any particular skills, or would like to share some cultural or family traditions, please let us know.  The children especially enjoy your participation.

THE PARENT COMMITTEE - Bungendore Preschool is an incorporated association administered by a volunteer Management Committee. For parents who would like to become involved in the management of the preschool, the opportunity exists to join the Management Committee.

This Committee is responsible for the overall operation of Bungendore Preschool, including setting the preschool fees, budgeting, staffing, fundraising, all general maintenance, development of the preschool’s policies, ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations set down by the Department of Community Services (the funding and licensing body), etc.

The Management Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting, which is held each February. There are four Executive Positions on the Management Committee (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) as well as non-executive Members.

The Management Committee currently meets twice each term in the evening to discuss the running of the Preschool.  All parents are welcome at these meetings.

Matters relating to individual children are not discussed at these meetings, for reasons of confidentiality

INFORMATION EVENINGS - Bungendore Preschool arranges information evenings for parents during the year. These sessions provide information about aspects of the preschool program or on other topics of interest to parents, such as nutrition or managing the behaviour of preschool children. If you have any suggestions for session topics, or expertise in a particular area, please talk to the Director.

HELPING OUT - As well as sharing in the fun activities, if you have some spare time during the day, or at home after hours, there are a number of tasks which you might like to do occasionally to help with the daily running of the preschool.  These include:

¨       Covering books;

¨       Washing toys;

¨       Mending dress-up clothes;

¨       Repairing equipment.

You can also become involved in Occupational Health & Safety, maintenance, policy development, etc.

From time to time, requests for parents to do specific tasks are placed on the noticeboard.  If you are able to assist with any of those tasks, please let the Director know.

There are also a few tasks which parents are asked to undertake during the year to help keep preschool fees as low as possible. These include gardening roster, working bees and fundraising.

FUNDRAISING - Money raised from fundraising activities is used to improve our current building and extend our equipment and library resources.

We try to get as many parents as possible to help with fundraising activities and so share the load.  More money raised means more equipment and opportunities for our children at preschool.  Any assistance you can give would be appreciated, and need not involve a major commitment of your time.

If you have any brilliant ideas for a fundraising activity, please let a member of the Fundraising Committee know.
